Britain vs Russia social media jail comparison
by Jolyon: Tucker Carlson
🇬🇧🇷🇺 Tucker dropped a comparison that should make every free person stop cold: Britain throws three times as many people in jail for social media posts as Russia does... and Britain’s population is less than half the size. You'll go to a bar and you ask people about Putin, they'll go, I don't like him either. So, you know, we tend to think this is an amazing, you know, autocratic country where people are punished just for their thoughts. They're not. We kind of make up the story. Well, here's a way to measure it. How many people in Russia go to jail for criticizing the government or government policy on social media? And I actually, the numbers are public. And I was amazed to find out that three times as many people in Britain, which has a much smaller population than Russia, under 100 million, Russia's 150-ish, three times as many Britons go to jail for social media posts as Russians. I'm not endorsing Russia, but I'm just saying, which is the more totalitarian country? Well, obviously, it's Britain. By definition, it's Britain. You can watch British television in Russia. You cannot watch Russian television in Britain. So which is a more repressive nation? It's really simple. These are obvious, non-rhetorical, non-ideological measurements of reality. Who goes to jail? What access to information do you have, right?
