Trader Mayne on Flood and BitMEX /position
Trader Mayne explained the old way crypto traders proved their wealth on BitMEX. Users could type /position to display their actual holdings, a feature that could not be faked. This command built the reputation of Flood, a legend in the BitMEX trollbox. When critics talked smack about Bitcoin crashing, Flood would simply type /position XBT. The screen would reveal he was long an ungodly amount of BTC, often around 5,000 coins. At the time, that stake was worth roughly $5M or sometimes even 8 figure positions. Seeing those numbers made the other person shut up immediately. Mayne noted this verification method was the equivalent of today’s demand to “Show me your wallet.” It defined the culture of that era.
