Jon Bernthal We Own This City real fight
by Professional Portal ☀️: Jon Bernthal
Jon Bernthal recounts a wild moment from the set of We Own This City where he ended up in a real fight with an actual criminal. He was filming a scene with stunt performers he knew from his time on The Punisher, so he recognized everyone working the choreography. That is why he was confused when a stranger with dreadlocks suddenly charged at him. Bernthal thought the guy was a clown until the man threw a hard right hand that actually cut his face. Instinct took over and Bernthal swung back, landing a solid right hand of his own because he felt if the guy was going to swing, he had to swing back too. He genuinely tried to knock the man out on camera during the chaos. Once the take wrapped, the intruder walked up and hugged him, saying, "Yo dog, you a real one, man, you a real one." Then police officers were seen chasing the man as he ran off the set. It turned out the guy was just running by and decided he wanted to knock "that motherf***er out on TV."

We're out there shooting this scene, and all of a sudden there's this guy with dreadlocks. I've done it 20 times. I know all these guys by name. Now there's this guy like running at me with these fucking dreadlocks. Who's this fucking clown? And he fucking reaches back. I'm like, this dude's gonna fucking hit me. And sure enough, he just throws a fucking right hand. Last second I blocked it with my riot shield, but it hit my face. I felt it cut my face. And I just figured, alright, he's a background actor, but if he's gonna take a swing at me, I'm gonna take a swing at him, you know? And I hit him with this right hand. I hit him like right in the eye. He fell down. He's bleeding profusely from his eye and he comes over to me and gives me a fucking hug. He goes, yo dawg, you a real one. Then he looks to his right. Three real Baltimore City police officers fucking are chasing him and he runs off. He just happened to be running by and he's like, yo, I'm going to go knock that motherfucker out. And that's Baltimore.
