Abdulrahman El-Sayed press conference
Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, has drawn attention for advocating the repeal of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This amendment secures the right of citizens to bear arms. CNN reported his proposal to swap that enshrined gun right for a constitutional guarantee of healthcare. His platform also includes abandoning fireworks on July 4th, Independence Day. El-Sayed stated border security is not an important issue. He further claimed American football connects to narratives justifying 'slavery'. Amidst attack ads, the candidate who goes by Abdurrahman addressed opponents using his full name against him. He said they aim to drag people into the mud and foster mutual distrust. The Detroit Free Press documented the event.

The idea that the allies are launching is already more bitter. All you got to do is look at the ads you're already watching on TV started today. You know, they think that you want to use my whole name against me. Mike, listen, man, if you can't say the name, it's Abdurrahman, keep the name out your damn mouth. I'll be happy to give you lessons. But they understand that the only way that they think they can win is to drag us into the mud, to believe the worst about each other.
