Jensen Huang just drew a sharp line on AI: the world will have both closed and open models. Rent closed models from the cloud whenever you can, he says, but countries and companies can't outsource their own intelligence. If it's fundamental to who you are, you have to build it yourself. That's Nvidia's CEO spelling out exactly why open models like Kimi K3 matter.

We'll have somebody else do it for you. And so I think whether it's just more accessible, it's going to be better. You know, however you think about these closed models, I think they're going to be thriving for years to come. What's your vision for the future with open source and proprietary models competing with each other? The world is going to have closed and open models. We should use closed models as often as we can. And we should customize and use open models to build our own personal, our own customized AI if we must. And now, of course, the world is large. And for many countries and companies, they must build their own intelligence. They can't outsource their fundamental intelligence to a third party. And so I think you should apply and adopt and rent intelligence from cloud services wherever you can. However, you can't outsource your own intelligence.
