Bon Odori in Shibuya

Amid the neon and skyscrapers of Shibuya, people slip into yukata and form a big circle to dance Bon Odori. It’s striking, right in a spot so many peg as the face of globalization, they’re swaying to chants that have been around for ages. Japan doesn’t hide its culture or swap it out for something more ‘universal.’ That refusal to dilute what’s theirs is exactly why the world finds it so beautiful. #Japan #Festivals
