Dominic Sessa sees a lot of himself in the young Anthony Bourdain he plays in TONY. He says the character gets pushed into a wildly uncomfortable, life-changing spot, and for Sessa, stumbling into movies was just as scary. He made plenty of mistakes early on, but reckons that struggle only sharpened him in the long run.

In the movie, the character is kind of thrust into this really uncomfortable position that ultimately changes his life, you know? And for me, it wasn't something that I intended to do, you know, get into movies. It was kind of thrust upon me and it was scary and I think I messed up a lot in the beginning, but it made me better for the rest of my life, you know? And I think that was something that was uniquely relatable, you know?
