Pulsar Fusion Sunbird nuclear fusion space tug
by Terrymiller: Tech
Pulsar Fusion just dropped their Sunbird concept,a nuclear fusion space tug with a Dual Direct Fusion Drive running on deuterium and helium-3. They're saying it could cut travel time to Pluto down to about four years. Orbital tests are scheduled for 2027. This is the kind of tech that makes you want to keep that energy high.

This nuclear fusion-powered rocket could reach Pluto in just four years. Meet Sunbird, a futuristic spacecraft concept unveiled by the UK-based startup Pulsar Fusion. Sunbird is equipped with a dual-direct fusion drive, using deuterium and helium-3 as fuel. It is designed to function as a space tug, remaining in low-Earth orbit and boosting other spacecraft on their journey deeper into space. The Sunbird is still in the developmental with the company planning to conduct orbital demonstrations by 2027. If successful, it could become the fastest self-propelled spacecraft ever built.
