Mao Zedong Great Leap Forward famine

    by Pavellim: Mao Zedong

The Great Leap Forward led by Mao Zedong caused the deaths of 45 million Chinese from famine in just four years. Peasants were forced to melt down tools in backyard furnaces while crops rotted unharvested. Local officials inflated harvest numbers to save themselves, and the state seized grain based on false data, leaving villages to starve. This was the largest famine in human history, a direct result of central planning that treated lives as expendable. Anyone who still defends Mao or Maoism after 45 million deaths is a weak-minded accomplice to genocide.
