Lighter CEO Vlad discusses how AI can transform human traders into superhuman traders. He says, "Automating human decision making was something trading desks were always trying to do," adding that it has never been done successfully and he's not sure AI agents will achieve that either. So, you know, when I was in Quant Finance, a lot of these funds, including Citadel, the way they're run is like, there's usually like a discretionary desk of traders who are making these calls using human judgment. And then there's Quant Models. Right now, Quant Models, the Quant Models from 10, 20 years ago are like, in some ways, a predecessor to AI agents. but it's kind of the the the question like you knew who automate these the human decision making was always something trading desks tried to do right like if you could encapsulate what a discretionary trader does using a model like obviously that's that creates efficiency it's never been really done successfully and i'm not sure ai agents will do that either right i think to your point i think what they'll do more is like they'll make the human traders um like superhuman right like now instead of researching three trade trade ideas a week you'll be able to research like 100 trade ideas a week but you'll still need to make decisions on um like what themes you're looking at in the first place what kind of risk management you want to do like what exchanges you want to use so i i still think there's going to be a lot of room for human decision making but like you know like maybe somebody who's really good at risk management but you know, not, doesn't have a big research team now will have a superpower where they can do, they can get a lot of research done as an example.
