I'm a woman and they put me in a cell with men. A woman in a man's prison you'll have the media drooling. Law says she's not entitled to special treatment and I can't put a man in a woman's prison. Cheryl is not a man anymore. Legally she still is. Shirley came under investigation after accidentally injuring her boyfriend's brother. But during the investigation Benson and the team uncovered a secret she had been hiding. They learned that Shirley who had been living as a woman was actually born male. The detectives then shared the discovery with her boyfriend. I'm talking about Cheryl being a man. What kind of sick joke he did. I'm sorry you had to find out this way. She said she wanted to wait. She would just push my hands away. The man was unable to come to terms with the truth. When he saw Shirley again he sought confirmation for himself. After realizing that the information was true he completely fell apart. Overwhelmed by emotional pain he chose to end his life with medication. Soon afterward the prosecutor met privately with Shirley Her attorney advised her to reject a guilty plea and pursue an appeal Given everything Shirley had endured there was still a chance to seek an acquittal However the prosecutor believed the odds of that outcome were extremely slim The attorney was furious after learning that the prosecutor had met with Shirley alone. The attorney threatened to report the prosecutor's conduct to the disciplinary board. But the prosecutor pushed back by accusing the attorney of withholding the offer that had been presented. Left with few options, the attorney urged Shirley to carefully reconsider her decision. The prosecutor felt relieved when Shirley made what seemed like a wise choice. Not long afterward, Benson received word that Shirley had been injured while in custody. by the time they arrived her condition had already become very serious looking at the badly injured Shirley the prosecutor found herself deep in thought
