NYC churches firebombed suspect identity withheld

Outrage is growing in New York City after two churches were firebombed overnight, and the NYPD is refusing to publicly identify the 36-year-old suspect. The individual targeted two churches and was found carrying additional Molotov cocktails, prepared to use them. Critics are calling the lack of transparency unacceptable.

Several police officers investigating the scene after they say Molokov cocktails were thrown at the two houses of worship. A yellow scene marker notes black charring on the ground right in front of the door. NYPD tells us a 911 call came in just before midnight about a fire at the church. FDMI was dispatched and they arrived to extinguish the fire and were told that thankfully no one was hurt. But a few minutes later, another 911 call came in about a fire in front of another nearby house of worship. NYPD THOUGH CONFIRMING THE 36-YEAR-OLD MAN BELIEVED TO HAVE THROWN BOTH MOLOTOV COCKTAILS IS NOW IN POLICE CUSTODY. POLICE SAY THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER HOUSE OF WORSHIP AND THANKFULLY NO INJURIES REPORTED. COMING BACK OUT TO ME LIVE, BECAUSE THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY, OFFICIALS SAY THERE IS NO LONGER A RISK OF ANY FURTHER DAMAGE FROM MOLOTOV COCKTAILS, BUT STILL, THERE IS STILL AN OPEN INVESTIGATION TO FIGURE OUT WHY THIS HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
