evidence this week, including a surveillance video and alleged confessions. Fox News correspondent Chandler Painter and Fox News contributor and criminal defense attorney Donna Rotuno joins us now. And of course, Chandler also has a legal background, was a former prosecutor as well. Donna, I want to start with you. Let's talk about the reasonable standards here. So this is a probable cause here and explain that to our audience because they're expected to present some court evidence, but it doesn't have to reach the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt. That's correct, Lawrence. The whole purpose of a preliminary hearing is to show that a crime took place. The standard is very low. It is a probable cause standard. The prosecution can put on very minimal evidence to meet that burden of proof. They do not need to proceed as if this is a trial. And I do caution the prosecutors to make sure that they don't make more out of this than it I think the defense here has put a lot of pressure on this team to do this in a way that they prefer rather than the way it should be done. And as we're watching here today, I truly hope that the prosecutors do the bare minimum, they meet that standard, and they don't try to make this a bigger deal than it is. They will find themselves in a position where they are showing too many of their cards and they are allowing the defense to cross-examine witnesses that they likely would not be able to cross-examine prior to trial.
