The Suffolk District Attorney indicted 10 people, including the owner of three massage parlors along Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, for allegedly operating a prostitution ring and money laundering scheme, generating over $1 million, all under the guise of a local business. Right in front of the Lavender Spa Salon is the Huntington Manor Fire Department, but behind the massage parlor are homes. I honestly didn't know, like, you know, it was going on in my front yard this entire time, and, you know, things are just crazy. The other two named in the indictment include the Long Island Green Apple Spa and Huntington Spa. It's three of nine massage parlors raided across Jericho Turnpike so far this year. It's really disgusting. One woman who did not want to be identified tells News 12 she often waits in her car while her son attends karate class right next door and says what she's witnessed has been disturbing. I've seen men come in within that hour, five, six men per night, and it's atrocious. I don't know how it got to be so many here, but it is frightening. Huntington Town Councilwoman Teresa Mari says several ideas are on the table to improve safety, including a special task force dedicated solely to investigating massage parlors. She adds fines for operating illegal businesses now reach up to $25,000. We are trying to, like I said, a little at a time. The fines hitting people where it hurts, you know, the posters for awareness. I've done a couple of PSAs just to say to people, look for it. And if you see it, please tell somebody.
