by ☕ Jules Wagner: T.I.
T.I. recently shared some crucial advice for up-and-coming artists and producers, urging them to study older music. He specifically told them to go back to the sixties, explaining that there's something in that old material that can be transformed into something new. “Listen to old shit because it’s something in that old shit,” he said. Man, my advice to the young artists and producers, man, is listen to old shit. Yes. Listen to old shit because there's something in that old shit that could become new shit. 100%. There's nothing new under the sun. Yeah. Just bring it back. Yeah. Bring it back. If you're looking for something different to do, it ain't got to be a new different. Go back to the 60s. Right. It ain't got to be a new different. It's just got to be different from right now. Yeah. It ain't gotta be a new different thing going either way. Yeah, yeah. That's hard, man. If someone listens to your catalog 50 years from now, what do you hope they understand about your contribution to music?
