Will Smith recently reflected on turning down the role of Neo in The Matrix, claiming that if he had taken the part, he would have ruined the film. He recalled that 1996 was the most chaotic period of his life, saying, '1996 was the craziest time in my life no matter how I threw the ball it was going in I had done Independence Day the year before.'
