Anna Paulina Luna threatens House floor shutdown
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has announced her intention to shut down the House floor unless the Senate returns to Washington to work. Her announcement comes after the Senate began a recess lasting more than two weeks. Luna stated, "Thune just got unanimous consent (meaning not one senator objected) for the Senate to adjourn 19 days." She argues that the Senate should be in session rather than on break.

Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that Senate proceed to executive session and consider the following nominations. Calendar number 774. In all nominations on the Secretary's desk, in the Coast Guard, with the exception of Jesse M. Millard, PN 846, and Ronzell L. Green and Tabitha A. Shiro, PN 849, that the nominations be confirmed, the motion to reconsider be considered made late upon the table with no intervening action or debate, that no further motions being ordered to any of the nominations, that the President be immediately notified of the Senate's action, the Senate then resume legislative session. Without objection. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that notwithstanding Rule 22, the cloture motion with respect to Calendar No. 436-4784, ripen following disposition of the Schwartz nomination on July the 14th. Without objection, so ordered. Mr. President, if there's no further business to come before the Senate, I ask that it stand adjourned under the previous order. The Senate stands adjourned until 9 a.m. tomorrow.
