Hostile architecture bench
benches built to keep homeless people from sleeping on them are so messed up
Transcript (en)
The bench is made especially for homeless people. You might think that this bench is very cool, but these benches serve an entirely new purpose. See, in many cities around the world, numerous homeless people end up sleeping on public benches. To discourage this behavior, these benches are intentionally designed with features like metal bars, armrests, sloped surfaces, or segmented sections that make it difficult for people to sleep on them. This design approach is known as hostile architecture. The goal is to ensure that these benches are used only for sitting, and not for sleeping.
