Sergey Brin spent $82 million to defeat a tax that would have provided healthcare funding for 14 million Californians. He even got Planned Parenthood, the teachers union, and the doctors lobby to back his effort. In October, California's largest healthcare workers union, SEIU-UHW, also supported the campaign.
