by Krzysztof W.: New York Knicks
On June 13, 2026, in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, LAPD officers responded to a mistaken 911 call and fatally shot a dog named Jameson. The call was triggered by a neighbor who misinterpreted a woman's excited screams while she was celebrating the New York Knicks' NBA championship win as a domestic violence incident.

Hi, oh can you put your dog away? Put your dog away dude, put your dog away. Put your dog away! Dude, I ain't getting bit by that bro. Is the dog put away? It's all good, it's all good. Put it in. Body cam footage was released of the shooting involving a dog that was at a Knicks party, got out of the house, scared officers, and they immediately opened fire in an apartment block. Super unsafe, obviously sad for the dog, but they could have hit a person with a bullet. Now, was the dog behaving aggressively? Yes. The dog is charging at the officer. As you can see, he's braced down low he has hesitation in his body language it's an alarm bark but does that mean the dog was going to bite them no does that mean that the dog was dangerous no a lot of dogs especially this dog is a saint bernard mix they will bark like that when somebody is strange and when somebody's acting defensively and aggressively to me this dog's body language looked like there was some hesitation because you can see he's getting down low his feet are spread wide apart Maybe the cops did feel unsafe. I get it. But that doesn't mean you just endanger everybody around you. They have batons. They have pepper spray. They have tasers. Why wasn't something else used? That's my question.
