I loved you your whole life At that moment, their mother made up her mind to take responsibility She would accompany Hallie to California To swap the two girls back where they belonged Yet as they were about to set off Ella was seized by a crippling wave of anxiety Worse than anything she had ever felt She feared the passing years had taken away her old charm And she was terrified Nick might not even recognize her anymore Hallie could tell, sharp as ever That despite all the time apart Her mother's love for her father had never faded To ease Ella's fears, Hallie told a white lie. She said their father was waiting for her at a San Francisco hotel, eager to see her again. But that very hotel was where Nick had booked rooms to marry his fiancée. The next day, they reached the hotel in no time. Ella kept drinking along the way to build up her courage, leaving Hallie and the butler deeply worried about her state. Meanwhile, Nick and his fiancée also stepped into the hotel. In an elevator, Nick suddenly caught sight of Ella. At the same time, Ella saw him being affectionate with another woman. But out of grace and good manners, she still greeted Nick politely. Just then, it dawned on her. She had been tricked by her two daughters working together. The girls confessed their plan, their eyes filled with hope, begging Ella to stop Nick's wedding. But Ella stood her ground. She said she had no right to interfere in Nick's life and ordered her daughters to tell him the truth at once. Back with Nick, his heart was racing with urgency. He searched every corner of the hotel for Ella. Every time his eyes fell on a woman with short hair, he would pause without thinking. Finally, across the swimming pool, he saw her. In that instant, everything around him faded away. Ella was the only thing that mattered, the sole focus of his world.
