I was about to unlock my door when I realized with shock that it opened with just one turn. But I clearly remembered double locking it that morning. Something was wrong. Someone had been inside my apartment. Instead of calling the cops right away, I pushed the door open and listened for any movement inside. Suddenly, a flash of light cut through the darkness. Too scared to look any further, I slammed the door shut, not realizing my phone had fallen to the floor. I spun around and bolted for the elevator. Once inside, I used the intercom to call security, telling them someone had broken into my place. As I rushed out of the elevator, I ran straight into the security guard who'd just arrived. I asked him to check my apartment, but when he got to my door, he found my phone lying there on the ground, perfectly intact. That's when Jack called. We nervously walked into the apartment together, but there was no sign of anyone. The guard thought I was just being paranoid, imagining things. No matter how much I tried to explain, he didn't take it seriously. After he left, I checked my cash, not a dollar missing. My expensive jewelry was still there too. I started wondering, if the intruder wasn't after money, then what the hell did he want? That night I couldn sleep my mind racing with everything that had happened Suddenly I heard something outside my door Anxiously I reinforced the locks then looked through the peephole but there wasn a soul out there The next morning I brought my friend Jack to the security office to review the surveillance footage Sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed. While I was downstairs, a man with an umbrella had entered the elevator and left through the basement. The footage only caught his shoes. Nothing else was visible. This guy clearly knew what he was doing. I immediately wanted to call the police but Jack stopped me. He figured since nothing valuable was missing and we had no other evidence there was no point. That really frustrated me. I knew something wasn't right. The following night I locked my door tight. Just as I was about to fall asleep a chill ran down my spine. I tensed up instantly. That's when I saw a shadow move across the study. Terrified I ran back to my bedroom and locked the door behind me. I quickly grabbed my phone and called Jack for help. He told me to stay in the bedroom no matter what happened. After hanging up I was still worried the intruder might break through the door. So I pulled a pair of scissors from the drawer to defend myself. I listened carefully to the sounds outside and realized the intruder was picking the lock. Curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to see what was happening. Even though Jack had warned me to stay put, I couldn't resist. I slowly turned the doorknob. But the moment I opened the door, I froze at what I saw.
