Strait of Hormuz deal mechanism explained

    Senior U.S. officials have stated that the agreement includes a mechanism intended to permanently keep the Strait of Hormuz open. The real question is how that mechanism would actually function. A guarantee is only as reliable as its enforcement, and Iran still holds control over the coastline.
