It stopped its attack at once, stepped back a few paces, and bowed its proud head. In that moment, it chose to submit. When Ulf realized Silverwing was yielding to him, he froze completely. A worthless drunk had been chosen by fate to become a new dragon rider. Overwhelmed with excitement, he rode Silverwing straight out of the cave and circled recklessly over King's Landing. The sudden shadow of the dragon threw the entire city into panic. Soldiers and civilians alike fell into chaos, thinking Rhaenyra's dragons were attacking. Word soon reached Eamond, who was ruling in the king's stead. He left the palace at once and mounted Vhagar to give chase. Eamond never tolerated any threat. Ulf sensed the danger and tried to flee, but Vhagar chased him relentlessly all the way back to Dragonstone. It was Rhaenyra's territory and the last stronghold of the blacks. The appearance of Vhagar put Rhaenyra on high alert immediately. She took her two dragons with her, standing on the coast and watching Eamon circle overhead. Vhagar let out a low, uneasy roar. A battle seemed ready to erupt at any moment. Eamon finally realized there were three dragons on Dragonstone. Faced with the numerical disadvantage, he turned Vhagar around and left the island.
