With a single act, Nuck reminded everyone who was really in charge of 63rd Street, and once again, he delivered a clear warning to the people around him. Please, don't be listening. Be quiet and lay low. In an effort to help Nuck fit into higher social circles, he was brought to a gathering filled with some of Chicago's wealthiest people. Before long, the pastor introduced him to a businessman, but the man seemed distracted. His eyes constantly drifted elsewhere. Eventually, he admitted that crime in Chicago had been getting worse, and he was always worried about someone stealing his car. He blamed everything on troubled kids from the streets. After the man walked away, Nuck wasn't impressed at all. To him, these so-called elites were just people who complained about different problems. The pastor could tell that Nuck had likely added another victim to his list. But Nuck didn't seem concerned. In his mind, people only learned lessons when someone paid the ultimate price. He believed that the only way to control the streets was to make everyone fear him. The pastor immediately saw the flaw in that thinking. Nuck wasn't leading people, he was ruling through fear. And loyalty built on fear is often the easiest kind to break. Meanwhile, Reggie had returned to 63rd Street, determined to take back everything he believed belonged to him. Standing near the waterfront, surrounded by luxury cars and yachts, he looked completely unimpressed. But the truth was he wasn paying attention to any of it He was too busy worrying about who might come after him next He rarely allowed himself to be alone That why he suddenly told Jake that he wanted him around all the time Jake didn understand at first Then Reggie explained why Aside from Jake he didn't trust anyone. Concerned that Jake might get dragged into his conflict with Nuck, Reggie warned him to stay away from Bakari. Jake assumed Reggie was targeting him unfairly. After all, Bakari had never done anything to him. But Reggie quickly revealed the real reason. Bukhari answered to Nook. At Khalil's funeral, the pastor stood before the crowd and prayed for the young man who had lost his life. He spoke out against street violence, condemning the way it continued to take young lives. Then his eyes landed on Nook, because he knew exactly who was sitting in the audience, the man responsible for Khalil's death. After the service ended, the pastor walked straight out to Nook. He asked him a simple question. Had he come to honor the dead, or just to make sure Khalil was really gone? He put my life in danger because he wanted to show off. Alright? That's not acceptable. You put your life in danger every day. I lay low. The day will come when God will judge you. Well, today ain't that day. Lucky you. The next day, Bakari thought he had done something important. But the moment he told Nuck what happened, Nuck's expression darkened. Not long earlier, detectives had already begun looking into Reggie. With multiple killings happening around 63rd Street, law enforcement was paying close attention to the area. Bakari's actions had only created more leads for investigators to follow. Trying to eliminate a potential threat for Nuck, Bakari had attempted to use Alicia to go after Reggie. But from Nuck's perspective, their focus had always been Duda. Bakari's decision to act on his own hadn't solved anything. Instead, it had made the situation even more complicated. His actions had ultimately led to Reggie being shot by Alicia the previous night. Nuck warned him directly. Until he was given permission, he was not to make another move on his own.
