I was reading alone that night. A mosquito kept buzzing in my ear. It drove me crazy. I raised my hand to slap it, but then I noticed something. A corner of the wallpaper was peeling, and there seemed to be something hidden underneath. I moved closer to peel it back, but a noise came from outside the window. My first thought was that someone had broken in. I rushed downstairs to check. It was just the window I forgot to low. Close. I shut it, Turned to leave, and the window opened again by itself. I froze for a few seconds. I closed it again. Then the next second happened. My sister was just outside the window. So, how was she now standing in the living room? I asked her when she came inside. She said she had been here the whole time. My heart stopped for a moment. Before I could think it through, I saw someone in my brother's room. My brother is a vegetative patient. He cannot walk. So whoever was inside was not him. The room was silent. My brother lay on the bed. No shadow. No one else. I let out a breath. I turned to take my sister upstairs. Then an alarm went off. My mother ran in. My brother's heart rate was dropping fast. She injected the medication. She tried CPR, but his heart stopped. I tried to comfort her. That's what God would want. She slapped me. It was loud. It hurt. But what happened next? Shook me to the core. The moment the slap landed, the monitor beeped again. His heart started beating, like he woke up just to take the pain for me. My mother cried and held him. I went upstairs in silence. My sister walked toward my brother. She only wanted to hug him. But as soon as she got close, he opened his eyes. I froze. My mother was overjoyed. She thought he was waking up. I saw hope too. We thought everything was finally getting better. But the next morning, I looked in the mirror, and I saw him.
