Gervonta Davis vs Floyd Schofield talks
talks between gervonta davis and floyd schofield heating up. sides aiming for mid september to early october fight
Transcript (en)
The timeline for Gervonta Tank Davis' comeback fight is starting to sharpen and focus with word that a contract has been exchanged between Premier Boxing Champions, which represents Tank Davis, and Golden Boy Promotions, which represents the number one WBA contender Floyd Schofield Jr. We know that Tank has been off since March 2025 when he was involved in that disputed draw against Lamont Roach Jr. And obviously since then Tank has been involved in domestic violence issues that have spawned both civil and criminal cases. Now he has to deal with Floyd Schofield Jr., who is just 23 years old, but has known Tank for quite a while. Actually, back in the day, Tank came into the gym that Floyd was working out and knocked out one of his best friends. So he wants revenge from that. And look, these sides have a couple weeks before the negotiations would prompt a purse bid, which we believe that both sides want to try to avoid the purse bid process. So anyways, what we've been told is that they're looking at a time frame of September into October. It seems to me that October is a more likely date for this fight to go down. But there's been some numbers exchanged. I'm told from both sides, both sides are looking upon it favorably. Obviously some work to do, but they feel like a deal can be struck. Check out my story. It's up in Boxing Scene right now. And I wanted to ask you guys, for Gervonta, do you believe that this is a good comeback fight for him? Floyd Schofield Jr., who we know in his last fight knocked out the former champion, Tevin Farmer, in Anaheim. But that was also almost a year ago as well. So he's been off for a while too. Let me know what you guys think. All right, have a good one.
