Ultimately the controversy lies in how the fight was stopped, when the fight was stopped. Many see that the fight was actually stopped after the bell of the 11th round. And there's people saying like, well, the ref knew the round was coming to a close. That's not the ref's job. The ref's job is to take care of the safety of the fighters, make sure that no one is cheating or taking advantage of the rule set, and to make sure that fighters are competently defending themselves. For whatever reason, the referee chose that they didn't think that he was, It didn't seem like there was that much time. There was not much time. There was actually no time left. Rico wasn't getting that battered. Yes. Was he getting overwhelmed? 100%. Did he get dropped and his mouthpiece fell out of the ring? Absolutely. And that was a little bit of the controversy, too, because where is the clock during that time? Officially, the ref is supposed to go to the timekeepers, say time. The official clock stops. They deal with the mouthpiece, which did take a little bit of a long time there. that even the corner was smart by bumbling the mouthpiece a bit to give Enrico a little bit more time. But ultimately, I don't think the fight should have been stopped. I think that he should have been given the grace to go back to his corner. And it's not even grace. It's literally by the rules. The bell rang. The round was over. Would he have recovered? We'll never know. But ultimately, this is going to be a controversy that's going to be talked about for a very long time. This is similar to Chavez versus Meldrick Taylor, in which he was literally stopped in the very last second of the last round in which Meldrick Taylor was ahead. A lot of people were thinking that Rico was way ahead. I don't believe so. I think it was a pretty close fight. I had him slightly ahead. I thought he was up 6'4 in terms of rounds. But with the knockdown and that big 11th round by Usyk, it was pretty much an even fight. But regardless, the controversy lives. People will talk about this forever. It is a kickboxer fighting in his second professional fight, fighting a living legend in Oleksandr Usyk. I mean, boxing does a great job of shooting itself in the foot. It's done it once again.
