Sébastien Vaniček on The Mask horror reboot

'Evil Dead Burn' director Sébastien Vaniček says he wants to reboot 'THE MASK' as a dark, ultra-violent horror movie. Unlike the 1994 Jim Carrey comedy, Vaniček wants to return to the brutal roots of the original Dark Horse comics, where the mask turns its wearer into a psychotic killer. “I think I would dig into The Mask, but make it closer to the comic books. The comic books are actually very, very violent and dark.” During a Reddit AMA, he expressed interest in extreme gore, exploding bodies and dark horror-comedy, with influences from works like 'BERSERK'. The idea is currently just his personal vision, with no official reboot announcement or studio involvement. #SebastienVanicek
