Darby Allin and Steven Borden discuss Sting legacy

Steven Borden and Darby Allin just tackled the question of whether Steven should ever pull on Sting's face paint, with Darby dropping a blunt truth first. He pointed out that Steven is already attractive without the makeup and insisted that adopting any persona has to come from him personally. The argument was clear: if you don't feel it inside, the audience sees right through it immediately. It would just be inauthentic mimicry without that personal conviction driving it. Darby made sure to emphasize that Steven needs to write his own chapter instead of trying to replicate old elements like the bat, the face paint, or even coming down from the ceiling for an entrance. You can't just take the easy route there. They want him to build his own book within this wrestling world rather than copying the past. Steven chimed in to say the last thing he wants is playing greatest hits. He believes callbacks work when they make sense at the right time, but bringing out the full legacy costume with the trench coat and bat early on might have gotten him booed out of the building. Since he is still in the beginning stages of his career, he prefers to take it week by week.
