Christmas Island red crab crossing rig

Every year on Christmas Island, millions of red crabs leave the forest and head for the ocean, and the roads cut right through their route. So engineers came up with something for the cars: metal attachments that steer the crabs clear of the tires instead of under them, cutting down how many get crushed. Small fix, real stakes, and a pretty solid case for human cleverness working in wildlife's favor when roads and animals share the same ground. #NatureScenery #Wildlife
