Kane Mbappé vs Messi goal record

Harry Kane is sitting at 57 goals with two months left in the year, while Kylian Mbappé has hit 49. Those numbers are wild because Lionel Messi scored 91 goals back in 2012 and that record has stood for 14 years straight. To actually break it, Kane needs to find 35 more goals and Mbappé needs 43 more. Both players have a full two months ahead of them to try pulling off something that felt impossible just a few years ago. Are we really on the verge of witnessing the end of one of football's greatest records?
