Santino Marella on TNA creative freedom

Santino Marella breaks down the structural differences between TNA, WWE, and AEW by highlighting how TNA avoids overproduction. The roster doesn't have fifteen writers or fifteen producers managing every angle, which means individuals in the ring get more freedom to operate. He points back to a golden era of wrestling where performers didn't rely on written promos because they knew their characters from working in other territories. Guys like Roddy Piper back in the day said they never had scripts for their promos, and that era defined what real creativity looked like. Modern television is different though. Being on a network requires quality control to protect sponsors, so you need to know exactly what's happening on screen every second to avoid offending anyone. You can't just say whatever comes to mind without thinking about the consequences. Despite those restrictions, Marella argues that having some creative freedom at the individual level remains one of the core strengths of TNA compared to the bigger leagues. #SantinoMarella
