The unfairness of it all is what actually keeps Matthew Perry crying when he talks about the other five cast members from Friends. They all got the exact same success, money, and fame, yet only he had to fight this disease while they didn't. It started in a rehab office where a spiritual advisor turned him around and told him repeatedly, Just remember, it's not your fault. Before that moment, Perry felt like he was just imitating Michael Keaton without learning anything real or thinking his will was broken. The advisor explained that addiction and alcoholism are diseases rather than moral failures or weaknesses, which helped him see his struggle as a medical condition for the first time instead of a personal flaw. But getting help doesn't make the disease disappear because it never goes away. Defining a condition as a disease does not absolve an individual of personal responsibility even if the situation feels impossible. Blaming external factors such as the disease, childhood, or industry prevents progress entirely. Recovery requires showing up, making correct choices, and owning decisions made after a diagnosis regardless of how much you resent the hand you were dealt. Continuing to wait for fairness or blame others results in repeating the same negative outcomes over and over again. #MatthewPerry #Health
