Thanks to positive WOM, exhibitors added +344 theatres to LaikaStudios’s PG-13 artsy animation Wildwood, now playing at 2.900 theatres at US BoxOffice! Distributed by Fathom, it grossed another 2.4M 2nd FRI! Strong hold, just a -44.9% drop from FRI Opening Day (vs MissingLink’s 1.8M, +11.6%, KuboAndTheTwoStrings’ 2M, -51.9%, ParaNorman’s 2.3M, -53.1%, TheBoxTrolls’s 2.8M, -43,9%, Coraline’s 3M, -33.1%). It hits a 20.8M cume in the U.S. The hope is that strong WOM & awards season keep the original animation alive both in the U.S. & overseas to, along with revenue generated from international distribution rights’ sales. recoup at least part of its pricey 100M production price tag not including marketing. Eyeing a 8M-10M 2nd 3-day weekend & a 34%-18% drop
