Doja Cat as Princess Kida

The internet asking for a live-action Atlantis after seeing Doja Cat's Princess Kida is the reaction that tells you everything. The occasion was her 26th birthday, an underwater-themed costume party thrown before the Halloween season had really gotten going, and she came as Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Winnie Harlow arrived as a siren, Normani as a goldfish, so the guest list was already doing the most. Behind the look sat a crew handling her hair, makeup, nails and wardrobe, and the precision is what pushed people from admiring it to wanting a whole film. What elevates the pick is the character herself. Kida stood well outside the usual damsel-in-distress mold, in a movie that still ranks among Disney's most underrated, and that makes sense as a choice. Doja Cat going all in on a theme is the throughline, and this one hit.
