Baby elephant trunk comfort behavior

Mastering the trunk is a years-long project for an elephant, and the learning curve involves constant curling, swinging, and exploration of the world. When that process leaves a calf feeling tired, nervous, or simply in need of reassurance, they often find comfort by sucking on their own trunks. It mirrors exactly how human babies suck their thumbs to soothe themselves. Nature's future giants start life as vulnerable little babies working through these sensitive moments. #Animals
