Lionel Messi Newell's Old Boys return

Lionel Messi is reportedly on the verge of heading back to Argentine football come January 2027. Journalist Gonzalo Calvigioni says the plan involves wearing the Newell's Old Boys jersey when he makes that move. The idea is for him to wrap up his MLS stint and walk away from Inter Miami once the 2026 season wraps up. Things could still shift after his time with the Argentina National Team concludes, but interest in returning to his original club seems to be picking up steam. This potential chapter would mark an emotional return in Argentine football history.
