Kylian Mbappé controversy costs Spanish football

Reports suggest the Kylian Mbappé controversy might cost Spanish football up to €100 MILLION per season. Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reportedly stopped airing LaLiga coverage, and multiple companies have ended sponsorship agreements with Mbappé. The financial hit is serious since Chinese broadcasting rights for LaLiga are valued at approximately €50 million annually. Lost sponsorships and commercial deals could increase total financial damage to nearly €100 million per season. LaLiga is concerned about a recurrence of the NBA's dispute with China, which removed the league from Chinese television for roughly two and a half years. LaLiga president Javier Tebas has reportedly met with the Chinese ambassador to reduce tensions and safeguard commercial interests.
