Wildlife bridges giving bison a safer crossing

The question worth sitting with is whether wildlife bridges might turn out to be one of the smartest fixes we have for animals worldwide. Start with the problem: a road slicing through habitat turns what should be a short hop into something risky. What the crossings do is give creatures a way across without ever touching the traffic, and that alone brings down how often collisions happen. There's a second payoff too, since these structures help pull fragmented ecosystems back together. For something the size of a bison, connection matters a lot. Reaching linked landscapes is how they locate food, shift between grazing grounds, and keep populations in decent shape. Deer and other animals get the same benefit. And the wider point is that looking after nature isn't always about putting distance between us and it. Sometimes it's about engineering a safer arrangement where both sides share the same ground.
