Şenol Güneş statement on Sergen Yalçın

Şenol Güneş is pushing back on how his words about the Turkish National Team job got read. What he actually said, "They did not consult me," was just a straight answer to a question at an event he attended, nothing more. No expectation buried in it, no hurt feelings, no complaint. Honestly, that's the whole clarification. The part that got twisted, especially on social media, was people taking it as a reproach about Sergen Yalçın getting the role. Güneş says that wasn't the meaning at all. In the National Team, the decisions come from the relevant institution and authorities, and the responsibility for those decisions sits with them too. That's how it works, but people will still read into it. He wishes Yalçın success in the job, and the National Team's success is something he calls a shared wish. The reason he spoke up at all: he didn't want his words weighed in a different sense, so he felt the need to put this out there. Wouldn't you know it, a simple answer turning into a whole thing. He closes by respectfully presenting it to the public's information. #SenolGunes
