Fellow Travelers Matt Bomer Jonathan Bailey

The most ambitious gay romance TV has given us in recent years might just be Fellow Travelers, and I say that went in expecting to be normal about it. Matt Bomer is Hawk Fuller, charismatic and complicated in a way that keeps you guessing, and Jonathan Bailey steps in as Tim Laughlin across a story that stretches over decades. What they build together is electric, passionate and genuinely heartbreaking, so the depth and intensity land instead of just being promised. Love, secrecy and the politics of the era are what mold that relationship, and the Lavender Scare and the AIDS crisis are woven through the whole thing rather than used as wallpaper. Strong performances carry it, the storytelling goes for real emotion, and the history underneath keeps it from floating off into fantasy. If you want a gay romance on TV that swings big and stays with you, this is the one I keep pointing people toward
