Mike Maignan statement on gesture controversy

Mike Maignan has spoken for the first time since the gesture controversy, and his explanation is straightforward: nothing about it was intentional. He says he was just trying to create some space for himself in his area. What bothers him is the impression it left, especially on young fans who were watching. On his character, he's clear that the club, the staff and his teammates know what kind of person and captain he is. As for the rest, he says he and others are used to how certain people and media outlets interpret things
