Trump on Central Park carriage ban
The medallions are the part that gets me. Drivers paid thousands for those, and the union says this bill hands them back nothing. Around 200 of them pull $60-70K a year on the carriages and all of that work disappears once the City Council shuts the service down by June 2028, with Mamdani set to put his name on it. Federal court is where the union says this is headed. President Trump went after NYC and Mamdani over the whole thing, and his case was the accidents angle: cars crash around there plenty and nobody bars them from the park, so why single out the carriages. His read is that a 160-year tradition, a real piece of New York history, is getting killed for politics. He called it a quintessential New York experience and said it'll be missed
