Louis van Gaal on Champions League corruption

Louis van Gaal is done with the new Champions League setup and he's not holding back. His main gripe? The UEFA only thinks about making money, a priority shift that has stripped the competition of its original essence. He calls the current participation system ridiculous because it allows any team to get in, which he sees as proof that we live in a corrupt world. Instead of this open door policy, Van Gaal argues the tournament should feature only top European teams. He admits cutting down the field might mean fewer goals overall, but insists the matches would be at a significantly higher level if they were just elite clubs playing each other. It leaves you wondering if his critique actually holds water or if the new format has genuinely improved things for everyone involved.
