Swerve Strickland says a WWE and AEW cross-promotion event won't happen in his lifetime, citing control and marketing as the main blockers. He compares the situation to the NFL, explaining that WWE has to protect their shield because they can't allow other wrestlers to look better than their own talent. Obi Femi is a world beater who needs protection, Gunther needs it too, Roman Reigns needs it, and Cody Rhodes needs even more protection given the AEW connection. Swerve mentions wanting to see Seth Rollins face Ospreay as a generational matchup but questions who holds the leverage there. While guys in the locker room just want these matches regardless of outcomes, he notes he's good friends with Carmelo Hayes, Jevon Evans, and Oba. Those are his boys and he loves them so much he doesn't care who wins or if it ends in double DQs.
