OKC vs Spurs Opening Night Results

The history of conflict from the previous Western Conference Finals, where San Antonio eliminated OKC, came back to life during the opening night matchup between the Thunder and the Spurs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander set the tone for Oklahoma City by scoring 32 points in a game that offered a chance for revenge against the team that ended their playoff run last season. Jared McCain caught fire off the bench for OKC, making six three-point shots while the Thunder relied on serious size inside with Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, and rookie Aday Mara all capable of playing big men roles simultaneously. Victor Wembanyama had a night to forget offensively for San Antonio, shooting just one field goal out of thirteen attempts despite finishing with 13 rebounds and six blocks. Things escalated when De'Aaron Fox threw Chet Holmgren to the floor during the game, sparking a scuffle between both teams right after the incident. While Fox brings experience to San Antonio's backcourt as a new addition, Dylan Harper is a guard joining the Spurs alongside Stephon Castle to create a complex lineup challenge. Integrating Harper and Castle with Fox presents an interesting storyline as the season unfolds for the Spurs trying to maximize these new pieces.
