Roberto Carlos on Messi and Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho might have been the one learning lessons by the end of it. Roberto Carlos says his first match against Messi left him so struck that he pulled Ronaldinho aside and warned him: be afraid of your number 10, because that kid is going to take it from you soon. Ronaldinho smiled it off, saying he was Messi's master and that it was a pleasure anyway. Roberto Carlos laughed and shot back that the master might end up as the student, picking things up from Messi later on. What really stuck with him was that day itself. Ronaldinho and Eto'o usually run the attack, but Roberto Carlos saw nobody except a boy in number 19 grabbing all the attention. And the part that gets me every time: players normally shine for a couple of years and then drop off, but Messi just kept improving year after year. Roberto Carlos says he carried Barcelona to glory for years on his own, and did the same with Argentina. Two teams, one player.
