Ilja Dragunov on competition hunger

Ilja Dragunov made it clear at the AEW WrestleDream post-show media scrum that he never doubted his ability to bet on himself. He explained that getting stuck isn't about outside forces, but happens when opportunities shrink internally and he feels trapped by his own need to compete. Since he genuinely loves fighting and wants to step up, a restricted environment where the air gets thin forces him to find somewhere else to breathe. He noted that doing exactly that today meant seeking out fresh air, a new landscape, and seeing what the world can offer to satisfy his hunger for competition.
