Street Fighter movie box office projections
So the Street FighterMovie pulled 4M from THU previews at the US BoxOffice, and that's apparently good enough for second place among fighting game adaptations, with only MortalKombat2's 5.2M ahead of it. Reviews came back mixed, which usually means trouble, but the projections don't seem to care. If casual viewers show up alongside the hardcore crowd, a 30M-35M domestic three-day weekend is on the table, and that would land as the second biggest opening any fighting game adaptation has managed stateside. For context, that range would blow past 1994 StreetFighter at 6.9M and 2009 TheLegendofChunLi at 4.7M, which makes it the strongest debut the franchise has ever had. PG-13 and all. Still feels like old news compared to what Nolan does, but the numbers are the numbers.
